Charles was the husband of the former Dora Wiard, who died in 1924. They had one son, (Elmer) Russell. He was a blacksmith and lived all his life in Lovettsville, except the last 2 years, when he lived with his son in Alexandria. He was a member of the Masons and the L.O.R.M. He was survived by his son, two grandchildren and brother William Butts.
