Early Life: Born October 16, 1923, in Delta, Utah, to George Myron and Doris Elma Alldredge Abbott. He was educated in Delta schools and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1941, at the young age of 18. He served in South Pacific during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Stewart, on January 28, 1945; they were married 68 years. He spent most of his life as a heavy equipment operator; he worked for The Operating Engineers Local Union #3 as a Business Agent/Safety Inspector for many years. He was a pilot and enjoyed working for Woodhouse's Flying Services spraying crops until he lost his sight and could no longer fly. He enjoyed working with his hands, repairing anything that was put in front of him. After retiring, they enjoyed many years vacationing in Baja, California, with family and friends. They attended many Marine Corps reunions in New Zealand and other locations. At age 82, he and Mary were called to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cove Fort, Utah. Edward Vance Abbott passed away peacefully on December 1, 2012, in Delta, Utah. He was 89.
