Anthony Dankbar Dies At Age 76
Anthony J. Dankbar, 76, 213 W. Ferner St., died Tuesday night at Marshalltown Area Community Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Henry's Catholic Church with burial in Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Dankbar had farmed in the Haverhill area until retirement in 1968. He was born Oct. 29, 1904, at Haverhill, the son of Henry and Elizabeth Pille Dankbar. He received his education in Haverhill. He was married to Zelda M. Croker Oct. 12, 1936, at Marshalltown.
His widow survives, also two sons, Robert A. Dankbar and James J. Dankbar, both of Marshalltown; a daughter, Mary E. (Mrs. Charles) Jones, Des Moines; six sisters, Theresa ( Mrs. Kenneth) Ware, Newton ; Henrietta Trowbridge, Marshalltown; Clara (Mrs. James) Fitzgerald, Colo, and Ida Northam, Betty (Mrs. Hubert) Meyer and Agnes (Mrs. Wayne) Wedgewood, all of Marshalltown; three brothers, Lawrence Dankbar, Marshalltown; Raymond Dankbar, Haverhill; and Roman Dankbar, Homewood, Ill.; and three grandchildren. A brother and a sister preceded him in death.
He was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church. There will be a family rosary at 7:30 p.m. this Wednesday and a public rosary at 7 p.m. Thursday, both at the Avey Funeral Home.
