Thelma E. Barnett
Thelma E. Barnett, 91, Marengo, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at 4:15 p.m. at The Salem Crossing in Salem.
Born July 14, 1921, in Marengo, she was the daughter of the late Elmer duke and Mattie Beatrice Lacey Duke.
She was retired from the old Hoosier Panel in New Albany and a member of Valeene Christian Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Woodrow S. Bennett, on Nov. 15, 2001; four brothers, Walter, Edgar, Johnny and Jimmy Duke; five sisters, Kathryn Bobbitt, Mabel Jenkins, Joy Hess, Nellie Mae Free and Margaret Barnett; and an infant daughter, Marilyn Barnett.
Survivors include three daughters, Charlotte Bowlin of Fredericksburg and Jean McKnight and Cynthia Bowles, both of Marengo; four sons, Kenneth Barnett of Bloomfield, Ronald Barnett of Depauw, Gary Barnett of Paoli and Paul Barnett of Fredericksburg; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Tuesday, Dec. 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. at McAdams Mortuary in Paoli and Wednesday, Dec. 5, after 11 a.m. at Valeene Christian Church.
Funeral: Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 1 p.m. at the church with burial in Valeene Cemetery.
