Henry Joseph Pille was born on April 14, 1911, in Haverhill, Iowa, the son of Henry Killian Pille and Mary Helen Kopel Pille. He received his education in Haverhill.
He married Lorraine G. Rahfeldt on August 21, 1940, in Zearing, Iowa. He was employed at Fisher Controls Company until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Moose Lodge.
Henry Joseph Pille, age 66, of 219 Huisman Circle, Marshalltown, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 1977, at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; by 4 sons: Glenn Pille, Des Moines, Iowa; and Mark, Chuck, and Terrance Joseph "Terry" Pille, all at home; by 4 daughters: Nancy (Darwin) Bowman, California; Carol (Mike) Garcia, Puerto Rico; Jan (Jim) Schelling, Marshalltown; and Joyce (Bob) DeVries, Minnesota. He is also survived by 2 sisters: Leona Theresa (Leonard) Knoll, Marshalltown; and Maurelia Frances (Ambrose) Rosemeier, Haverhill; by 4 brothers: Bernard Joseph, Clarence, and Ambrose W. "Bud" Pille, all of Marshalltown; and Linus A. "Lynn" Pille of Bettendorf, Iowa; and by 10 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents and by his sister Teresa Daters.
A family rosary was held at 7 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 1977, at Avey Funeral Home in Marshalltown. An Altar and Rosary Society rosary was recited on Tuesday, October 18, at 7 p.m., followed by a wake at 7:30 p.m. Requiem Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 19, at St. Henry's Catholic Church, 221 W. Olive St., Marshalltown, IA 50158, with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery.
