Amy Ruth Tuttle Banner, 91, died Monday, January 23, 2012 at Springwood Care Center. She was born April 2, 1920 in Stokes County to Samuel Joseph and Lola Southern Tuttle. Mrs. Banner was a family person who loved her family and was a friend to all who knew her. She retired from Hanes Hosiery with 42 years of service. She was a member of Germanton Baptist Church where she served in many positions. She was a Sunday School Teacher, Baptist Women President, WMC and was very active in the choir for 55 years. A funeral service was held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at Germanton Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Lattimore and Rev. Jeff Stephens officiating. Burial was in the Church Cemetery. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Odell Banner, who was her wonderful friend and companion; son, Gerald Banner; grandson, Robert Lee Banner; sister, Hallie Smith; four brothers, Rex Tuttle, Bill Tuttle, Bernard Tuttle, Harold Tuttle and half sister, Nell Mounce. She is survived by her two sons, Joe Banner of Walkertown and Kent Banner of Winston-Salem; a sister, Jo Flinchum of Union Cross; seven grandchildren, Kathrine Bondie, Shannon Draus, Scott Banner, Brian Banner, Dianna Banner, Kenny Banner, Cristina Banner; four great grandchildren, Burroughs Funeral Home in Walnut Cove is serving the Banner family.
