Mrs. Fortner was born September 3, 1845, at Georgetown, Miss., and had lived in Gulfport for 21 years. She died on the 11th anniversary of the death of her husband.
Surviving Mrs. Fortner are: One son, Ike Fortner of Gulfport; three daughters, Mrs. J. J. Pulliam of Gulfport; Mrs. Ellie Jennings of Baton Rouge, La., and Mrs. Frank Grantham of Corcoran, Cal.; two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Maude Fortner of Gulfport, and Mrs. Douglas Fortner of Tallulah, La. She is survived by about 70 descendants including two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be D. V. Cochran, F. DeL. Smith, R. H. Taylor, George C. Taylor, J. B. Pilsbury and S. A. Tomlinson.
