Mrs. Christie Rice, wife of S.E. Rice, was born in Union County, Iowa Sept. 28th, 1867 and died at her home three miles north of town after an illness of three years May 29th, 1908. She was married to S.E. Rice Oct. 7, 1885. To this union was born four children, two boys and two girls. All of them were present at her death and burial, and her aged father and mother from Oklahoma were also present. She was a very quiet, loving wife and tender mother. Her funeral took place from their residence Sunday, May 1st, conducted by G.S. Smith. A train one half mile in length followed to the Cemetery. Mr. Rice and her many friends have the sympathy of the community.

Mrs. S.E. Rice died at her home northeast of town Friday, May 29th, of consumption after a lingering illness.
Funeral services were held at Bethel Church Sunday afternoon and the remains interred in the Bethel Cemetery.
