Troy, Ill.--Mrs. Lucy Jane Taylor, lifelong resident of Troy and vicinity and one of the oldest native residents of the county died Wednesday afternoon at 5:40 o'clock at her home here. Death was attributed to old age and complications. Mrs. Taylor had been confined to her bed since December 28 and during her illness recovered from a severe attack of pneumonia.
Mrs. Taylor, who was the mother of Recorder of Deeds Paul Taylor, has a number of relatives in this city and in the Troy community. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Barnsback and her father was a descendant of the Barnsback family which settled in the county at an early date.
Mrs. Taylor was born December 25, 1854 and she had attained the age of 86 years, 3 months and 28 days. Mrs. Taylor spent her early life at home and on March 8, 1876 she was married to James A. Taylor. For many years he followed farming at Troy. The death of Mr. Taylor and one of his daughters, Edith, occurred within a few hours of each other in 1910 and a double funeral was held.
Mrs. Taylor was the mother of seven children, six of whom survive. Besides Paul Taylor, who lives in Collinsville, the other survivors are Thomas J. and James Taylor, Troy; William Taylor, Marshfield, Mo., Miss Fannie Taylor, and Mrs. Bessie Minsburg, Portland, Ore. There are seven grandchildren.
The body is at the Edwards Funeral Home at Troy where it will remain until Sunday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock when it will be taken to the Troy Presbyterian Church. Final services will be held at the church at 2 o'clock. Complete plans for the funeral were being arranged Thursday. Burial will be at the Troy City Cemetery.
