Lucius "Lou" Raymond Ostheimer Jr., 84, died at 11:11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012. He was a native and resident of Houma.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. until funeral time Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church.

Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial in Magnolia Cemetery.

Lou is survived by his wife, Sandra Wright Ostheimer of Houma; sons, Paul Ostheimer of Fort Worth, Texas, and Karl Ostheimer of Mansfield, Texas; stepsons, Nathaniel Neigel and wife, Celeste of Larose, and Matthew Neigel of Pursglove, W. V.; grandchildren, Karlee Ostheimer, Tessa Ostheimer, Michael Marsh, Dillon Marsh, Brandy Canizaro, Jonas, James and Julianne Neigel; great-grandchildren, Brooke and Bree Pollitt, Harmony Ostheimer-Moore, Jacob and Taylor Prudhome, Christain, Kaley, and Angelina Canizaro, Raegan and Evan Marsh; and sister, Peggy Solberg and husband, Charles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucius Raymond Ostheimer Sr. and Helen Bazet Ostheimer; his first wife, Paula Price Ostheimer; infant son, William Ostheimer; stepson, Patrick Neigel and his granddaughter, Alisha Ostheimer.

From childhood Lou was active in St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Houma, where he was a member, as well as St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Arlington, Texas, and Christ Memorial Episcopal Church in Mansfield, serving as acolyte, crucifer, reader, usher and on the vestry. He was an Aviation Engineer and Chief Engineer Inspector over quality control for L.T.V. Aviation in Grand Prairie, Texas. After retiring he went to work for International Paper of Mansfield.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 through 1948. Lucius was serving on the Terrebonne Parish Public Library Board and Magnolia Cemetery Board of Directors. He formerly served on the boards of Terrebonne Historical and Cultural Society (Southdown Museum) and the Houma-Terrebonne Convention and Visitors Bureau.

He was active in the Terrebonne Genealogical Society and co-authored a book on the history of the Bazet family. Lou was also a member of the Terrebonne High School Alumni Association and Friends of the Library. Lucius proudly served 35 years in Boy Scouts of America, receiving the Silver Beaver Award, and was welcomed into the Clan de los Brazos de Dios in Palo Pinto County, Texas. He was also a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Lucius was involved in planning many of the THS Class of 1945 reunions. In addition, he was a former volunteer fireman both in Logansport and Bayou Cane.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Matthew's Episcopal Church Building fund at P.O. Box 568, Houma LA, 70361, 985-872-5057 or the Terrebonne Parish Public Library at 151 Library Drive, Houma, LA 70360.
