Robert Orvel Polk Ford was the son of John Robert Ford and Elvira M. Cox. In 1896 he married Barbara Alice "Allie" Brown (source 1900 Census), daughter of Thomas Brown and Martha Jane Ford of Washington County. Several records have his name as Robert R. Ford. I can only imagine it has something to do with a misspelling and heavy accent when saying Orvell (Arvel / Rvel). Most of these people signed their names with an X, unless their jobs required more literacy.
