MRS. WILLIAM HAMMOND DEAD.

Mrs. William Hammond, 84 years old, who has been a resident of Lyon county for 69 years, having come to Emporia in 1863, died at 3:20 o'clock this morning at the Hammond home in the Rinker neighborhood. Mrs. Hammond, wife of William Hammond, Civil war veteran and Lyon county pioneer, had been sick for two weeks.

Funeral arrangements have not been made.

Mrs. Hammond was born May 29, 1851, in Yellow Springs, Ohio. She was the former Miss Margaret Fawcett. She came to Emporia in 1863. She was married to William Hammond February 8, 1868, in Emporia. Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Hammond observed their sixty-eighth wedding anniversary. Mrs. Hammond was a member of the First Presbyterian church.

Mrs. Hammond is survived by her husband, William Hammond; two sons, W. A. Hammond and P. W. Hammond, and three daughters, Miss Lettie Hammond, Mrs. W. M. Buck, and Mrs. L. B. Roberts.
