He was born March 4, 1924, to William A. Armer Sr. and Beatrice Major Armer in El Dorado.
John was a U.S. Veteran of WWII and served in England, France and Germany. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Calion and was a member and Past Master of Champagnolle Lodge 768. He was the owner of Armer Body Shop.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark Armer; daughter, Mary Armer Richey; five sisters; and one brother.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Betty Parker Armer of El Dorado; two sons, John P. Armer Jr. of Baton Rouge, and Dean Armer of El Dorado; brother, William A. Armer (Janice) of El Dorado; sister, Dorothy Graybill of Little Rock; four grandchildren, Chasity Howe (Jeff) of El Dorado; John Armer of El Dorado, Byron Sartor (Sarah) of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Jennifer Scallon (Patrick) of Baton Rouge, La.; and five great grandchildren, Kayla Armer of Baton Rouge, La., Lauren Brown of El Dorado, Faith and Madison Sartor of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Jayce Howe, El Dorado.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at Young's Chapel with Bro. Sam Higgs officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors. Masonic rites will be held at the graveside.
