Center Barnstead, NH – Gail R. Brown, 64, died on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
She was born November 5, 1948 in Concord, NH a daughter of Leigh and Cora (Barnard) Welcome. Gail grew up in Concord and in 1966 graduated from Concord High School. She then attended Vermont College in Montpelier, VT before finishing her school at Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, VA, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology. After college Gail began working at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MD as a Lab Tech, managing the blood bank and later working with plateletpheresis and National Bone Marrow Program. She later worked at Norwalk Hospital and most recently at Stanford Hospital both in Connecticut again managing the blood bank at both. On August 6, 1994 Gail married Allan Brown in Center Barnstead where they have lived since 2009.
In her free time she enjoyed handicrafts and knitting blankets for many people. She also loved to shop for antiques. Most of all Gail loved and adored her family and was greatly loved and adored by many.
She was predeceased by her brother Leigh "Skip" Welcome.
Gail is survived by her parents Leigh and Cora Welcome of Barnstead, NH and Apollo Beach, FL; her husband Allan of Center Barnstead; a son Kenneth R. Carter of Somers, NY; a daughter Kristin L. Carter of Bow, NH; two grandchildren; a sister Carol Borg of Farmington, NH and four nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 11 AM in the Congregational Church of North Barnstead, North Barnstead, NH. Burial will be at a later date in the New Hampshire Veteran's Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. Ricker Funeral Home & Crematory in Lebanon assisted with arrangements.
