Death at Indianapolis of a Former Venerable Madisonian

Mrs. Elizabeth Chambers Hurlbut, aged 81, widow of the late Jeremiah Hurlbut, died at 8 o'clock yesterday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Stella Paine, at Indianapolis, after an illness of a long time with the infirmities of advanced age.

The remains will arrive here on the noon train tomorrow and the funeral will take place directly from the depot to Springdale cemetery.

The decedent was a native of this county, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Chambers and was born and grew up in the Big creek neighborhood. After her marriage she came to Madison and was resident here until ten years ago, when she went to Indianapolis to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Paine, besides whom there is one other child, a son, Mr. Isaac Hurlbut, of Indianapolis. Mrs. N.T. Drake of this city, is a niece. The decedent's husband died here in 1895.

Mrs. Hurlbut will be well remembered here, particularly by the older residents, as a lady of most estimable, Christian character.
