On Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2012, Karl Dahl Grossman III passed away as a result of complications from cancer, and his family claims this particular timing as yet another blessing in a long line of them for celebrating the thanksgiving of Karl's life. First and foremost Karl was a man of strong, unwavering Christian faith that strengthened the faith of his family and virtually everyone who would share a few words with him. Mr. Grossman was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1947, and lived in Dallas, Texas for most of his upbringing and early adulthood, where he graduated from Bryan Adams High School in 1966. Karl was an adventurer, a motorcyclist, a sailor, a master mechanic, a sailing vessel master carpenter; he ran a dive shop in the Florida keys, owned a boat repair business, worked as a master pipefitter, and after becoming a self-taught computer programmer, he spent the last twelve years of his career as a computer systems analyst in the chemical manufacturing industry. Karl wed Mary Polis in 1968, and they were blessed with a strong, wonderful marriage of 44 years. Mary survives Karl, as does his son, Karl Dahl Grossman IV, his granddaughter Alexandria Grossman, and siblings King Grossman, Sybil McClintock, and Clarice Smith. Karl and Mary moved from Dallas to settle in south Texas, where they lived in Port Lavaca, Texas, and for the past 8 years in Victoria, Texas. Mr. Grossman's funeral service were held on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Big Spring Church in Garland, Texas, and there was a graveside service directly following at Big Spring Cemetery. The family invites those who knew him to come and celebrate his life with them, and requests that instead of flowers, a donation be made to the American Cancer Society .
