Cornelius C. Colt, 69, 1621 N.E. Knott Street, former vice-president and director of the First National Bank of Portland, died at his home Sunday, where he had been living in retirement since January 1, 1938.

Colt, prominent in national banking and educational circles, was a former regent of the University of Oregon and a former vice-chairman of the state board of higher education. For a time he served as president of the Portland Better Business Bureau and was president of the Portland Chamber of Commerce for two years. He also served as president of the Boy Scouts.

Born in Chicago, August 1, 1874, he came to Portland in 1907 as president of the Union Meat Company, and remained with that company for 12 years until Swift & Co. took over the company on his recommendation. On October 1, 1919, he entered the banking field as vice-president and director of the First National Bank and retired as senior vice-president.

He is survived by his widow, Anna V. Colt and one sister, Mrs. C.M. Adams, William's Court, Pa.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:30 A.M. from the Finley Morninglight Chapel, S.W. 4th avenue at Montgomery street. Interment at Riverview cemetery.
