Funeral Services for Elvie Beatrice Smith, age 89, of Cullman Co were held on 17 Dec 1992 at Oak Level Bapt Ch with interment in the adjoining cemetery.Raley McCracken Funeral Home directed the services with the Rev Travis Styles officiating.

Mrs Smith was born on 19 Oct 1903 to the late Columbus Newton Hendrix and Nancy Arizonia Reid Hendrix. Mrs Smith was a native of Bowdin Junction GA. Her family made a three-week journey in a covered wagon to settle in Simcoe AL when she was three years old. She and her husband, the late J E Smith, established several businesses in Cullman, among them, the areas first hatchery and Smith Farms. She passed away on Dec 15 at Cullman Medical Center.

Survivors include: son, Dr Melvin Smith of Cullman; sister, Floris Huffman of Simcoe; grandsons; Dr John E Smith, Dr Robert Smith, Joel Smith and Charles Smith; and 15 great-grandchildren.
