Mother of the Heston Brothers Laid to Rest Friday.

The funeral of Mrs. Charles Heston, who died in this city last Thursday, was held at the Methodist church at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon. It was a glowing tribute to the mother of the Heston brothers to notice the large attendance at the funeral and the tender feelings shown by her grown-up children and relatives. The ser mon was delivered by Rev. Eldridge, and burial made in the Goodland cemetery. The text of the sermon was "As thy day is, so shall thy strength be." The fervor of the discourse lay in the stress the speaker put on life that is well and graciously lived; that strength-strength from the divine-comes to him whose day are full of good and kindly deeds.

Mrs. Charles Heston, whose maiden name was Mary Susan Hall, was born at Monmouth, Warren county, Ill., October 19, 1838, and died at Goodland, Kans., November 2, 1905, having just completed Her 67th year. She grew to womanhood at the old homestead in Illinois, and on February 24, 1855, was united in marriage with Charles Heston. To this union were born six children-five sons and one daughter-John, Hubert Marshall, Edward Edwin, Charles Albert and Ana, all of which are living in Sherman county and were present at the funeral. William, a son, died February 23, 1890. In 1884, the family left Illinois and settled in Adams county, la. Three year later, in the spring of 1887, they moved to Sherman county. In August 1904, Mr. and Mrs. Heston moved to Goodland. In February of the same year, the husband and father, on account of failing health and enfeebled mind, was taken to Topeka for treatment.

The deceased had been in failing health for more than a year, but through all the weary days and weeks of suffering she grew in patience and resignation. She is survived by her husband, five children, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
