She was born May 17, 1915 on an Iowa farm to Andrew and Alta Dell Wright Butler. Her father was a tiller of the soil and he also butchered and dressed for the markets. Flossie's mother died in 1925, and the family moved to Ashton, Illinois.
"Flossie" graduated from high school in Franklin Grove, Illinois. She married Alford Batchelor in Rockford, Illinois, their marriage ended in divorce.
Flossie was employed in Rockford by Swedish American Hospital for a number of years and the Canfield Clinic and found her joy working for American Family Life Insurance Company. She retired from desk work in 1991.
In 1973 she entered matrimony with the love of her life, Donald Andrist. In 1992 the couple moved to Clarkston to be with her daughter Janice and husband Jim Beirl. Both Flossie and Don retired and joined every club available. Together they entertained, cooked, played cards and devoted time to the United Methodist Church of Clarkston.
Flossie is survived by her daughter Janice and husband Jim Beirl stepson Richard and Janet Andrist of Rochelle, Illinois and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. The United Methodist Church in Clarkston will have her going away services 10:30 a.m. Friday, with a lunch to follow.
Arrangements are being provided by Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home of Lewiston. In Lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Clarkston United Methodist Church, Attn: Pastor Shane More, or to the charity of donor's choice.
