A celebration of life for June Rose Walker, 89, Pomona, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 3, 2012, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, West Plains, Missouri, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Walker entered into eternal peace at 3:45 p.m., Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at Ozarks Medical Center.
She was born June 3, 1923, at Castana, Iowa, to the late Walter and Clara Anderson Schneller. Her early childhood years were spent in Iowa and the family later moved to Willow Springs, Missouri, where she graduated from high school with the Class of 1941. She moved to West Plains, where she began working for the Selective Service in 1944. After serving tirelessly for thirty-one years, she retired in 1975. Not one to sit idly, she promptly returned to the workforce and spent many years serving her friends and neighbors at Richard Brothers, West Plains Veterinary Clinic and later at Video 2. During her early years in West Plains she met the love of her life and on March 22, 1946, she was married at Thayer, Missouri, to Wyatt Monroe Walker, who preceded her in death on January 27, 1999. For fifty-three years, she faithfully stood by his side and their love story was one that defied description. She was not only a devoted wife, but was a devoted mother as well. Her husband Wyatt and daughter Kay were the joys of her life. She loved to garden and can, embroidery and cross-stitch, spend time visiting with friends and loved ones, and eat lunch with the Lunch Bunch from church. She has been a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church and gave her life to Christ at the age of eighteen. She was a woman of strong faith and her love for Christ shined through in all that she did.
She is survived by her daughter, Kay Colvin; her grandchildren, which she lovingly referred to as her "specials", Bobby Walker, wife, Debbie, Kenneth Buck, wife, Tammy, Becky Taylor, Krystal Colvin, fiancé, Adam Jones and Jayme Colvin; her great-grandchildren, which were her "extra-specials", Keenan Walker, Cheylyn Walker, Christy Hicks, husband, Joel, Dalton Woodley, wife, Shakara, Nyah Buck, Oryn Buck, Kayln Sanders, Kyle Taylor, wife, Becca, Alex Taylor, wife, Hilary, Arron Taylor, Robert Colvin, wife, Michaela, William Colvin, Miranda Lowry, Cole Jones, Kryslyn Colvin, Kiarah Jones, Gabriel Colvin, Noah Colvin, Brayden Colvin and Landen Colvin; her great-great-grandchildren, who brought a smile to her face, put a sparkle in her eye, and a bounce in her step, Hunter Hicks and her namesake Anastasia Rose Colvin, as well as two impending bundles of joy; her brother, Joe Schneller, wife, Patt, special "son" Roy Robinson; many special nieces and nephews; her church family; and numerous friends.
Her parents, one brother, three sisters and her beloved husband, precede her in death.
She was without a doubt, the foundation upon which her family was built. She will always be remembered as a fiercely independent, strong willed woman who taught her family the importance of love and loyalty to one another. Her light is no longer burning here among the living, but because she gave each of us a small bit of her flame, her light will burn for eternity in the hearts and minds of all who knew her.
