Virginia Weimers Halla, passed away on Nov. 27, 2004, in Austin, TX, where she had been visiting a daughter, age 82.

She was born in Napa, CA, on July 31, 1922, the daughter of Stella and Leigh Weimers. She was the widow of Thomas Halla Sr. of San Jose, with whom she shared 49.5 years of marriage; mother of Shari Skalland of Montgomery Creek, CA, Thomas Halla Jr. of Concord, Trish Peyton of Marble Falls, TX, and Patrick Halla of Morgan Hill; sister of Leigh A. Weimers of Redwood Estates; grandmother of Tim and Jeff Skalland, Amy Lang and April Murray, and Ryan, Chris and Laura Halla; great-grandmother of Katie and Brett Lang; mother-in-law of Tim Skalland, Danielle Halla and Stan Peyton; sister-in-law of Patty Nelson and Geri Weimers.

A graduate of Napa High School and San Jose State College, she was a member of the Black Masque honor society. She served in WW II as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. A resident of San Jose for more than 50 years, she retired from employment with the Alum Rock School District and moved to Morgan Hill, CA, in 2000. An avid lover of music, dance, theater, travel and the environment, she was a volunteer in the effort to expand walking trails in Morgan Hill and to coordinate safety signage warning motorists of school crossings. She performed for many years with the CA State Troupers and Mad Hatters, and was a member of the St. James Senior Center, Cypress Senior Center, Kirk Senior Center, Willows Senior Center, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, AmVets, WIT, RSVP and the Pine Tree Villa Senior Estates.

Graveside services held Dec. 19, 2004, at Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno, CA.
