Emmett Lee Abels, 77, died at his home in rural Moreau Township in Morgan County, Missouri (about 5 miles east of Versailles). He was the son of William and Agnes McConnell Abels. He lived in Missouri for all his life, moving from Saint Joseph to Morgan County. He lived in Morgan County for about 45 years.

Emmett never married. He had many jobs to include driver and car man on a steam railroad. He eventually whet into farming and that was his profession until he retired. He lived with his sister Rachel and her family since 1910. He is last seen living with his widowed sister and her son Morris until his death in 1953. He had suffered from a coronary thrombosis three weeks prior to his death. He was pronounced dead at 12:05 am at his home.

W. P. Kidwell, funeral director, of Versailles, Missouri was in charge of funeral arrangements. He was buried April 2, 1953 at the Big Rock Cemetery in Morgan County, Missouri.
