Anna married Clarence Clark Vernon on September 20, 1925. They had one daughter, Mary Bernice.

On April 18, 1930,
Clarence & Bernice Vernon, ages 33 & 29, were renting a home on Shady Lane Avenue in Louisville, Jefferson Co, KY. Clarence was a Public School Teacher. They had one daughter, Mary, age 2.

"ANNA BERNICE VERNON
Anna Bernice Vernon, 100, of Sturgeon died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at Stuart House in Centralia. She was a long-term resident of Sturgeon.

The daughter of Charles Lee and Leona Patrick Brooks, she was born Oct. 6, 1900, near Centralia in Audrain County. On Sept. 20, 1925, she married Clarence Clark Vernon in Centralia, and he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Vernon attended Truman State University, Kirksville, for one year and taught school in rural Audrain County near Centralia.

After her marriage, she owned and operated a floral business in Centralia for 15 years called 'the Blossom Shop.' She was known for her paintings and they can be found in homes all over Boone county.

She was a Baptist, a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution and the Former Business and Professional Women.

Mrs. Vernon was also preceded in death by a sister, Nadine Bryson. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Brown, of Sturgeon.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, at Fenton Funeral Chapel, Centralia. Jed Angell officiated. Burial was in Centralia Cemetery."
