Barbara Marie Cook Melton of the Cabell Heights Community died Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the Raleigh General Hospital. She was 63 years of age.
Born on August 12, 1946 in Stotesbury, she was the daughter of the late Charles Haskel and Mabel Marie Lilly Cook.
She was also preceded in death by her brother Charles Howard Cook in 2004.
Barbara was an employee of Melton Mortuary, Inc and attended the Calvary Assembly of God Church. In her leisure time she enjoyed spending time with her family. She will always be remembered as a wonderful wife, a loving mother and a caring nanny.
Survivors include her husband, H. E. Melton III, a daughter Lavette Melton and her other loving family Jimmy and Lina Chow Vu Tran and her two little angels Zinnia and NiNi Tran and by a mother-in-law Lillian Melton all of Beckley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Saturday, November 21st in the Melton Mortuary Chapel with the Pastor John Jordan, Pastor George Mandakunis and Pastor Tom Carver officiating.
Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Beckley.
Friends may call Friday evening from six to eight pm at the funeral home.
