Emory David Boowman, well-known farmer of near Smithsburg, died Wednesday morning at approximately 11 a.m. in his home. Death followed prolonged illness. He was a son of Julia A. Bowman and the late David E. Bowman. The deceased was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Smithsburg Fire Department.

Suvivors include the following: His wife, Anna R. Bowman; daughter, Mrs. Leroy Cline of Smithsburg; two sons, Raymond D. and Joseph E. Bowman, both of Smithsburg; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Samuel Durkin and Mrs. Oscar McCleaf, both of Highfield; one brother, Morris A. Bowman of Boyd and a half-brother, Stanley Kuhn of Ohio.


The body rest at the M. L. Creager funeral home in Thurmont where friends may call until Sunday when the remains will be taken to the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Smithsburg for 2 p.m. services.

Interment will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Smithsburg. Rev. David E. Fleagle will officiate.

The funeral of Emory David Bowman who died on Thursday at his home near Smithsburg was held Sunday with services at Smithsburg Seven-Day Adventist Church at 2 o'clock. During services Mrs. June Garriott sang "The Love of God is Greater Than Tongue Can Tell." Rev. David E. Fleagle conducted services, assisted by Rev. C. L. Wilbur and Rev. W. C. Moffett. Pallbearers were : Samuel Duncan, Linwood Deweese, Lester Shilling, Richard Miller, Braden Shilling and Jason Bowman.

Burial was made in Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Smithsburg. M. L. Creager and Son, funeral directors.
