Frederick David De Nooy, the sixth child born to John and Christina Gonleg De Nooy on January 11, 1920, near Peoria, Iowa. Fred went to his heavenly home on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at the Pella Regional Health Center – Long Term Care at the age of ninety-two.

Fred met Goldie Vander Hart at Young People's Society at the Peoria Christian Reformed Church where they both attended and where Fred professed his faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Fred and Goldie were united in marriage on October 16, 1941 at her parents home near Peoria, Iowa.

On May 11, 1942, Fred entered the United States Army and received his basic training in Camp Robinson, Arkansas, then went to the Desert Training Center in California, leaving for overseas July 31, 1943. Overseas he served as Motor Sargent attached to the 5th Field Hospital in the Pacific, New Guinea, Luzon, and Philippines. He received an American Service Medal, Asiatic, Pacific Service Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon World War II, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Driver/Mechanic Badge with Bar. Fred received his honorable discharge from service December 31, 1945.

Fred and Goldie were blessed with five children: Linda, Dennis, Cathy, Dale, and Darrell. After returning from service Fred continued farming. Later he trucked for Peoria Stockyard. After moving to Pella in 1992, Fred worked at Ring-O-Matic, Midwest Sanitation, Super Car Wash, and was well known for his lawn mowing service for many Pella residents. Fred and Goldie moved to Hilltop Manor in 2010 and later when his health began to fail Fred moved to Pella Regional Health Center-Long Term Care.

Fred loved to work, which was apparent when late in life he continued his lawn mowing services. He also enjoyed hunting with the Vermeer group.

Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife of seventy years, Goldie; his five children and their spouses; eighteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Erma and Cornie Van Wyngarden; and many nieces and nephews.
