He was born Feb. 1, 1920, in Glenwood, W.Va, a son of the late Mantford and Sarah Edmonds Brumfield. On Oct 29, 1938 he married his life long love, Mary Virginia Booth.
He was also preceded in his death by his son, Frankie Brumfield; three sisters, Bessie Nelson, Edna Smith and Margaret McComas; and one brother, Lowell Brumfield.
He was a retired machinist for ACF Industries.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Virginia Booth Brumfield; two sons, Robert "Bob" Brumfield of Glenwood and John Brumfield, Jr. of Point Pleasant; four daughters and one son-in-law, Lillie and Buddy Ward of Milton, Shirley Jenkins of Glenwood, Rosella Brumfield of Lesage and Sarah Combs of Lesage; three brothers, Rondal Brumfield of Huntington, Joe Brumfield of Kenova and Harley Brumfield of Barboursville; one sister, Geneva Spence of Texas; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
