Ozie Ruth Van Steenwyk was born on November 14, 1935, to Lloyd D. and L. Mae Beard Harvey in Warren, Arkansas. She passed away Thursday, November 22, 2012, at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House at the age of seventy-seven.

Ruth graduated from the Attica High School. On November 14, 1952, she was united in marriage with Alfred Rene Van Steenwyk at the Attica Methodist Church. They were blessed with five children: Connie, Carrie, Sherrie, Allan, and Michael.

Ruth enjoyed being a farmer's wife and a Mom. Later she was employed at Pella Corporation where she worked for twenty-eight years, retiring in 1999.

Her favorite hobbies were baking for others, spending time with her family and friends, going swimming with her grandchildren, and scooter riding with Baby.

Those left to cherish her memory are: her children: Connie Vannoy, Carrie and Tom Jayne and Michael J. and Ruth Ann Van Steenwyk; ten grandchildren: sixteen great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Dorothy and Larry Wheatcraft and Rena Schmidtz.

Preceding her in death were: her parents; her husband, Alfred, March 10, 2003; parents-in-law, Henry J. and Cornellia Van Steenwyk; daughter Sherrie Lynn Van Steenwyk; son Allan Van Steenwyk; and brother-in-law, Bill Schmidtz
