BODY OF MISSING EMPORIAN IS FOUND

Eldo H. Gregg, 37 years old, 225 Union, was found dead about 2 o'clock this afternoon in the timber about a quarter mile east of Flat Rocks, on the Cottonwood river. Mr. Gregg's body was found by his father, Fred C. Gregg. Officers said that Gregg's death resulted from breathing fumes from a motor truck exhaust pipe. Sheriff Roy E. Davis said Mr. Gregg was found lying under the truck on a piece of canvas, part of which was wrapped around the exhaust pipe over the man's head. Officer's said that Mr. Gregg's death probably occurred late Monday.

Officers who went to Flat Rocks included Undersheriff Walter Keehn, who was accompanied by Coroner W. T. Crawford. Sheriff Davis arrived later with Justice Carl K. Judd, who was slated to act as coroner if Keehn had not found Crawford. Sheriff Davis said he understood Chief of Police Roy Clay took Fred Gregg out to search for his son this afternoon.

REPORTED MISSING

Emporia police reported this morning that relatives of Mr. Gregg had sough aid in a search for Gregg, who left home about 4:30 o'clock Monday afternoon. Police were informed that Gregg told relatives that he was going to see men about business and that he also said that he might go to Flat Rocks and might not return.

The two men Gregg said he planned to see, told relatives they had not seen Gregg. Police went to Flat Rocks late Monday night, but found no trace of the Model T Ford truck Gregg drove away from his home Monday afternoon.

HAD BEEN IN HOSPITAL

According to the probate court records, Mr. Gregg was committed to the State hospital at Topeka on May 14. Relatives told police that Gregg was released from the hospital August 3.

GREGG FUNERAL FRIDAY

Funeral services for Eldo Horton Gregg, 225 Union, who died Monday, will be Friday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the Roberts-Blue Funeral chapel. Rev. J. C. Brogan, pastor of the Grace Methodist church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Maplewood cemetery.

Mr. Gregg was born September 8, 1900, in Emporia. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Gregg, 224 Union. Mr. Gregg married Helen Schroeder on December 14, 1931, in Pawnee City, Neb. Mr. Gregg had been a plasterer for 15 years. Mr. Gregg was a member of the Kansas National Guards during the World war. He enlisted September 17, 1918, and was discharged September 15, 1921. He was a member of Company B, fourth Kansas infantry.

Mr. Gregg is survived by his wife; his parents; a daughter, Helen Gaylene Gregg, and two sons, Douglas Gregg and Delbert Gregg.

Funerall (sic) services for Eldo H. Gregg, 225 Union, who died Monday, were held Friday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the Roberts-Blue Funeral chapel. Rev. J. C. Brogan, pastor of the Grace Methodist church, conducted the services. Miss Lois Crook, Miss Grace McCormick, Ned Watson and Edwin Gile sang, accompanied by Mrs. Glenn A. Blue. Pallbearers were George Quintin, George Forbeck, Bryant Brewer, Sylvester Kufahl, Samuel Jacob and Everett Nevitt. Burial was in Maplewood cemetery.
