Son of Henry J. & Adeline E. (Maloney) Gensler.

Enumerated in the 1900 census as Henry J. Gensler Jr., but in city directories, the WWI draft registration, and other censuses he went variously by H.J. and as Harry.

Married first in Jan 1901 in Baltimore, Maryland to Julia A. Post, daughter of Truman S. & Frances D. (Wilson) Post, with whom he had a son, Truman Post Gensler, in 1901 and a daughter, Betsy Atwater (Gensler) Lyon, in 1902.

Married second, probably in St. Louis, Missouri, around 1907, but not later than June 1908, to Edith (Temple) Bell, daughter of Alonzo "Lon" & Fannie (Clark) Temple, with whom he had three daughters.

Death notice in the Southern Illinoisan (Carbondale, Ill.), 10 August 1951, p. 3, col. 8.
