Gerald A. "Peck" Bowman, 85, of Pleasant Valley Road, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, at his home. Born Aug. 30, 1920, in Pleasant Valley, he was the son of the late Cleg E. and Minnie V. Draper Bowman.

He retired from Landis Tool Co., Waynesboro, Pa., in 1983. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Garfield United Methodist Church. He was a member of South Mountain Rod and Gun Club, Smithsburg, Cascade American Legion, Blue Ridge Sportsman, Waynesboro Fish and Game Club, and AARP.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Olive G. Buhrman Bowman; two daughters, Maxine Bowman and Wendy Bowman; one brother, Floyd H. Bowman of Cascade; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy Wolfe; two sisters, Elizabeth Frazer and Edna Kline; and one brother, Marshall Bowman.


Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg. Pastor Randy Reid will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, c/o Margaret Swope, 12262 Pleasant Valley Road, Smithsburg, MD 21783, or to Hospice of Washington County, 1500 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
