Thomas was born in Georgia at the beginning of the War Between the States. His father and uncle were in the Georgia Infantry. After his father died at Camp Douglas, Chicago, IL, he, his mother, brother and sister moved to Fayette Co., AL to be near his grandparents. From there Thomas moved West to Mississippi where he eventually married Dona Catherine Marshall. They continued the move West, eventually coming to Hunt Co., TX, and then to Tarrant Co. where they both died.
