Don was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and served briefly in the Navy from 1945 to 1946. He was a registered Professional Chemical Engineer with General Electric for over 20 years and retired from Magnavox after 16 years in 1991. He was an active member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church and participated in the CHRP program and his Small Christian Community. He volunteered for over 25 years at St. Joseph Hospital and enjoyed traveling, playing golf, poker and investing in the financial markets. He was a proud member of the Kadiddlehoppers. Don was also a member of the John Purdue Club and enjoyed watching Purdue football and basketball.
He is survived by his sons, Frederick (Denise) Briggeman of Brownsburg, IN, James Briggeman of San Diego, CA and John Briggeman of Ft. Wayne; daughter, Susan Briggeman of Dallas, TX sisters, Marilyn Thimmig of Dewitt, Ml and Carole Bickimer of Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne; parents, Harold and Bernadette; and an infant daughter, Julie.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 am, Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Rd with calling one hour prior. Msgr. John Kuzmich officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Monday at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Rd with a Vigil at 3:30 pm.
Burial in Catholic Cemetery. Memorials to the Joanne Briggeman St. Vincent Educational Trust.
