MRS MOLLIE ALEXANDER BENNETT
Mrs. Mollie Alexander Bennett, 90, passed away [Thursday] January 6, 1972, in the Jenny Stewart Hospital in Hopkinsville, Ky.
She was born November 20, 1881. [Her parents were Calvin Adkins and I believe Mary "Mollie" Benton, both of whom were born about 1861.] Mrs. Bennett was a former resident of Middlesboro and was a member of the Hensley's Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Lay; Williamsburg, Ky., Mrs. Elsie Marcum, Middlesboro, Mrs. Alma Savage, Jacksboro, Tenn., Mrs. Anna B. Turner, Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Gwendolyn Robertson, Hopkinsville, Ky., two sons, James Alonzo ["Lon"] Alexander, Fonde, [Robert Benton] R.B. Alexander, LaPort, Ind., 20 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and greatgreat-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Sunday [January 9] at Hensley's Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Swan Bush and the Rev. Howard Keck officiating.
Interment will follow in Hensley's Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening.
Shumate Funeral Home in charge.

Alexander, LaPort, Ind., 20 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and greatgreat-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted 2:30 p.m. Sunday al Hensley's Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Swan Bush and the Rev. Howard Keck officiating.
Song services were rendered by the Church Choir.
Interment followed at Hensley's Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Glenn Lay, William Savage. Larry Joe Marcum, Louis Rogers, Jack R. Marcum, Jerry Easton.

Married James Harvey Alexander. Remarried Pleasant E. Bennet upon his death at 51 due to heart attack.
From Census taken June 9, 1880 at Ducktown District 8, Polk Co., TN: James J. Alexander was 2 years old. His father, William P. Alexander: 33 years old, born Georgia as were both his parents. His wife was Sarah: 20 y.o., born Georgia; however both her parents born in North Carolina.

Was 1/2 Cherokee Indian; not sure whether her mother or father was the full-blooded Cherokee.
