In 1900, at the age of 15 to attend 8th grade, Stella lived with her sister Anna (Hagler) Chapman, wife of Tamerlane Burk Chapman, in Greer County, Oklahoma Territory. There she met her husband to be, Chester M. Stone.
Stella and Chester were married the Sunday of September 4th, 1902 in the Methodist personage by Reverend Roper. Stella & Chester had one living child, Mary Helen (Stone) Herndon.
