OBITUARY.
Margurite Charlotte (Brockneict) Cordes was born in German, September , 1840, and died at her home November 12, 1910, aged 70 years. The deceased came to this country and settled in Jackson county at the age of eight years. In 1858 she was united in marriage to Richard Hercamp; to this union were born seven children, two of whom and her husband are dead. In 1875 she married Henry Cordes and to this union was born one son, Frank, who resided with them at the time of her death. Mrs. Cordes was a member of the German Lutheran church and was respected by all who knew her.
Mrs. Cordes had been confined to her bed with an attack of typhoid fever, which developed into cancer of the bowels, from which she suffered for seven weeks. Throughout her suffering she was patient, never voicing a word of complaint. She will be missed on account of her kindness and hospitality.
The deceased leaves a husband and six children: Mrs. August Vornholt, Mrs. Annie Rust, William George and Richard Hercamp, and Frank Cordes, besides a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Borcher's Church, of which she had been a member, conducted by Rev. Mr. Gerkinmeyer. Burial at Borcher's cemetery.

Deceased came to this country and settled in Jackson county at the age of 8 years. In 1858 she was united in marriage to Richard Herecamp. To this union were born 7 children, two of whom and her husband have preceded her to the great beyond. In 1870, she was again united in marriage to Henry Cordes, to which union one child was born, Frank who resided with them at the time of her death. She has been confined to her bed for several weeks with typhoid fever, which later developed into cancer of the bowels. She was very patient throughout all her suffering. Not only will she be missed in her home but in the surround vicinity, for her kindness and her hospitality was widely known, as no one was ever turned away from her door without food or shelter if in need! The funeral occurred Tuesday morning at eleven o'clock at the Borcher church of which she has been a faithful member, and the services were conducted by Rev. Gerkenmeyer.
