Funeral services for Charles C. Foster, Sr., 79, who died in an El Paso hospital, were conducted from St. Luke's Episcopal church Tuesday, Rev. David Jones officiating, and Johnson-Moore directing. Interment was in Fairview.


Foster died Jan. 23 in an El Paso hospital, following an illness of two years. He moved to El Paso eight years ago. He came to Denison at the age of 7 years and resided here, rearing a family and moving to El Paso, where his second marriage was announced.


He was born as the son of Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Foster, at Cherryville, Kansas, October 9, 1880, and with his family came to Denison seven years later. He graduated from the Denison schools and attended the old Harshaw Business College of years past, a once famous institution.


Foster served the city of Denison as its clerk in the water department for many years and also as judge of the corporation court, retiring in 1949. He was a member of the Order of Eagles. Surviving are two sons, Charles C., Jr., of Houston, and Thomas R. of El Paso. Daughters are Mrs. Allison Pierce, El Paso, Mrs. Derald Cox, Flagstaff, Ariz., and Mrs. Pat Farry, Richardson.


Also surviving are one brother, J. W. of Lemon Grove, Cal., three sisters, Mrs. George Bates, Mrs. Freeman Lewis and Mrs. Pat Farry, all of Denison, besides 17 grandchildren.
