SCHENECTADY GAZETTE, MONDAY, JUNE 5, 1972:
Merwin M Barrows, 39, of RD 2, West Mountain Road, Corinth, was pronounced dead at his home at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, apparently from self - inflicted strangulation. He was found by his wife, Mrs. May Belle Barrows, when she arrived home.

Saratoga County Coronor Donald Clark ordered the body removed to the Densmore Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow. Sgt. Gaylord Brunell, Deputy John De Martino and Investigator James Bowen investigated.

An employe of the International Paper Co., Mr. Barrows was born Oct. 16, 1932, at Lake Luzerne. He was a graduate of Corinth High School and Cobleskill State College and served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict from Sept. 9, 1952 to Aug. 9, 1956.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Christine, Colleen and Laura Barrows, and a son, Mark Barrows, all of Cortland; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Barrows of RD 1 Corinth; four sisters, Mrs. Henry Esford of Warrensburg, Miss Martha A. Barrows of Corinth, Mrs. Bernard Senecal of Ithaca and Mrs. Gerald Ellis of Corinth; a brother, Aaron Barrows of South Glens Falls and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. The Rev. Duaine Alien will officiate at the funeral, assisted by the Rev. Charles Applin. Burial will be in Lake Luzerne Cemetery.
