Marvin Leroy Adams, age 80, left us with heavy hearts today, while surrounded by his family and friends and headed for the big arena in the sky on Nov. 18, 2012.

He was born March 24, 1932 in Roosevelt to Andrew A. and Nellie Tanner Adams.

Married Beth Thayn and they had four children; later divorced. Married Mae Vonne Eastman on Jan. 31, 1976 and they brought two more children into this world.

Marvin started working at an early age as a service station attendant helping support his widowed mother. He went to work at US Fuel, starting out as a mechanic and advancing to the Tipple as an Outside Foreman.

Marvin lived to rope and ride and was a true cowboy. He trained many roping horses, branded a lot of cows and taught young cowboys and cowgirls how to rope and ride. He earned the respect and admiration of those he helped. He coached the rodeo team for the College of Eastern Utah and the friendship with those kids have endured through the years.

He decided to give up roping calves and took up fishing, that lasted two years. His love of riding and roping returned him to the arena as a team roper. His love of riding lasted until one month ago, when he climbed on Ole Charlie, followed by his trusty border collies, and took his last ride. He loved to ride his horse or a four wheeler to Clarks Valley and Whitmore Canyon to check on his favorite cow, "Old Ugly".

Marvin had the honor of being chosen as the Grand Marshall for the Black Diamond Stampede Rodeo because of his dedication in helping produce that rodeo. He belonged to the PRCA, the RMRA, and the USTRC.

He is survived by his wife, Mae Vonne; his children, Boyd Adams, Julie (Jeff) Failor, Tammy (Glen) Wells, Rita (Gary) Baker, Jaymee (Casey) Mills, Nikole Adams, Lance (Jackie) Moon and Cindy (Christian) Johnson; brother, Eldon Adams; sisters, Shirley (Kent) Christensen, and Elsie (Ruben) Lugo; brother-in-law, Robert Barker; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sister, George (Willa) Adams, Emma Barker, and William Adams.

Funeral service, Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, 2 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell's Tuesday evening from 5 - 7 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Wellington City Cemetery.
