Herbert H. Diedrich, 80, of Davenport, formally of Durant, died Monday, February 6, 1978, at the Good Samaritan Center in Davenport.

Visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 7, at Runge Mortuary in Davenport. A memorial fund has been established in his memory.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 8, at Runge Mortuary Chapel in Davenport. Burial will be in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.

Herbert Hartwig Diedrich was born September 12, 1897, in Cedar County, the son of Henry and Johanna (Mangels) Diedrich. His mother died when he was almost two years old and his sister Vilma, one month old. They were raised by his father and step-mother, Bertha Diedrich. He received his education in the Cedar County schools. He was employed with International Harvester, until he retired to Durant. He never married.

Surviving are one sister, Vilma Hamilton of Davenport; one niece; and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two step-mothers, Bertha and Ella Diedrich and one brother-in-law, Claude Hamilton.
