Hi there,
My family is buried in New Prospect Cemetery, and the story goes that my grandfather was given our family lot in exchange for taking care of the baby's grave in the corner of the lot. I am sorry to say that we have not always been good about it. This summer, my brothers and I dug down and found the tombstone.
I also found the following in the Cedartown Standard of of 5 October 1916: "The infant of Mr. and Mrs. Lyles died Tuesday night, and was laid to rest in the New Prospect cemetery Wednesday morning."
I am not sure how you might connect, but I wanted to make your acquaintance.
All the best,
Jason

Hi again! I was right about Corinne being the daughter of Rufus Lyle. The Cedartown Standard of 24 August 1916 has the following: "Born, to Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Lyle, Aug. 12th, a girl."

Dear Sandy,
I remember the tombstone when I was a child, and I knew it had to still be there. I am glad it had enough information to read. My grandparents were Tom Edwards (84301730) and Sarah Brownlow (35828698). The agreement was made between my grandfather, my grandmother's brother Heflin Brownlow (96354456), and a man who was a sibling to the baby. I understand that the baby belonged to Rufus Lyle. I checked, and, in 1920, they were the only Lyles around and they were just a few houses from my great-grandparents. I don't think there is any blood connection between my family and the Lyle's. They were just neighbors and went to church together. I imagine some of them probably worked together at Aragon mill as well. One day, I would like to get he a new tombstone and raise the one that is there up to ground level so that it won't disappear again.
Take care,
Jason
