J C STAMPS, NATIVE OF COUNTY PASSES
Another an old time & honorable citizen, died at home Friday, following an illness extending over the past few months.
Mr. Stamps was born & raised in his home section of this county. He was well & favorably known by everyone. He was 75 years old & leaves 3 sons to mourn his passing, who are: Cal, Chas, & Joe, all of whom attended him during his last sickness & death.
For many years Squire Stamps, as he was familiarly known, had been justices of the peace in his township & he was a most interesting character. He was always in a jolly mood & ready to joke w/friends.
Squire Stamps, was always a strong believer in doing things honorably & open. His life was lived in that manner. He was a personal friend of the late Dr. John Ray, father of Charles Ray, editors of the Cassville Democrat & never came to Cassville but what visited our office.
