She was born on Dec. 27, 1902 in the Town of Stockbridge, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Daun Joas. She was a graduate of Stockbridge High School in 1919 and on Nov. 27, 1923, she married Nicholas Kampfer at St Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge. He preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 1968.
She had farmed with her husband in the Town of Chilton. Veronica was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton and a member of the Christian Mothers.
Survivors include her four children, Jerry (Delores) Kampfer. Chilton; Lucy (Jerry) Cole, Bloomington, Minn.; Claude (Joan) Kampfer, Chilton; Florence (Joe) Schlaefer, Chilton; 19 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Hattie Kampfer, Chilton; nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by son, Franklin on March 27, 1997; a brother, Alfred Joas; three sisters, Katherine Joas, Appolonia (Joe) Propson and Lorena (Frank) Nickel.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, May 31, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton, with the Rev. Gary New S.D.S., officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
