He was a graduate of Centre College and Harvard University.

Sydnor I. Davis, a partner with the law firm Taft, Stettinius and Hollister, died Friday at Christ Hospital. He was 71.

The Terrace Park resident joined the firm in 1953. He practiced corporate law his entire career. Mr. Davis retired in 1992.

Mr. Davis was a graduate of Centre College in Kentucky located in Danville, KY and Harvard Law School. He was a former trustee of Centre College. He served on the board of directors for Richards Industries inc., Portion Pac and other corporations. He loved dogs and other animals, antique sports cars and was an avid reader.

Murray Monroe knew Mr. Davis for 43 years. The two met when Mr. Davis came to the law firm in 1953. "He was one of the most friendly persons you'd ever want to meet," said Mr. Monroe. "He was very intelligent. His associates and clients all loved him."

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary Morris Davis; two sons Brooks of Oakley and Stuart of Terrace Park; a daughter, Stacy Davis-Barden of Cherry Grove, Anderson Township; and two grandchildren.

Memorial Services were at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Terrace Park.
