Doug Cherry earned his success by believing in himself. He brought all of the right "tools" for success to Ohio Wesleyan University: a second to none work ethic and drive that demanded respect, a responsibility more mature than his years, honest and straight forward communication, caring and consideration for others, and a humbling sense of humor. More importantly, Doug had the loving support of his family in Terrace Park, Ohio – a community that Doug talked about with much pride.

At the memorial service For Doug in his hometown, childhood best friend Jeff Weech paid a fitting tribute to him. He went out at the top of his game. He was quite literally on top of the world. At thirty-eight, he know who he was and wasn't afraid to be himself. Doug was happily married to his college sweetheart…his sole mate. They have three beautiful children and, in spite of long work hours, Doug was remarkably close to them and involved in their upbringing.

Doug died on September 11, 2001 during the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers in Manhattan, New York. Memorial services were held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 100 Miami Avenue, Terrace Park, OH.
