The son of Samuel Anderson Adams and Sarah Anne B. Goad, Samuel was often known as "Goldman."

He married Viola "Mae" Broadwater on 21 Mar 1919 in Cleburne County, Arkansas. They lived with his parents during the early part of their marriage.

According to some records, they were the parents of 3 children, but this has not been confirmed. [Note: No children from this marriage were listed in Samuel's 1979 obituary.]

Mae died around 1931.

Possible children from first marriage: 3 daughters???

Samuel married Jessie Christine Watkins on 13 Jul 1925 in Searcy, White County, Arkansas. He was a painting contractor, and they were the parents of 6 children.

The family moved to Alton, Madison County, Illinois in the 1930's. They moved to nearby Cottage Hills, Illinois in late 1944.

Children from second marriage: 1 daughter, 5 sons.

Samuel died at Wood River Township Hospital at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 6 days.

He was survived by his wife, Jessie; 5 sons; and 23 grandchildren.

In addition to his mother and father, Samuel was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Eleanor.

Visitation was held at Marks Mortuary on 22 Jul 1979. Funeral services were conducted there at 1:30 p.m. the following afternoon.

Samuel's wife, Jessie, passed away in 2003 and was buried next to him.
