The son of William Albert Harmon and Sarah Catherine McKnight Harmon, "Joe" married Lola Addeville Wood on 30 Aug 1908 in Clay County, Illinois. He was a farmer, and they were the parents of 6 children.

Joe's parents and brother lived with the family for a time.

At the time of his death at Wood River Township Hospital, Joe was 83 years, 9 months and 27 days old.

Survivors included his wife, Lola; 5 sons, Lloyd, Bill, Ray, Roy and John Harmon; and 1 daughter, Helen Blackledge.

Visitation was held at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Funeral services were conducted there at 1:30 p.m. on the afternoon of 14 May 1968.

Lola passed away in 1978 and was buried next to him.

Children: 5 sons, 1 daughter.
