Richard served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He attended Southern State Teachers College in Springfield, SD.
Richard was a salesman for Knapp Shoe Company for 20 years. He loved the traveling and made many friends in the five state region.
Richard had many passions including golfing with his son Jeff, going to Husets Speedway every Sunday, and watching the Minnesota Vikings and Twins games. He could be found very morning at the Empire Hy-Vee having coffee with his son and many friends.
The joy of his life was spending time with his family, especially his precious grandchildren and all the "adopted" grandkids in the neighborhood.
Richard was an accomplished story teller and enjoyed singing. His family is going to miss him greatly. We are so grateful for all the memories he has given us.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Loretta Kellogg.
Grateful for having shared his life are: his son, Jeff L. Kellogg, daughter-in-law, Cathy Kellogg, granddaughters, Cara Koch, Jeanna Kellogg and Samantha (baby) Kellogg and grandson, Christian Kellogg, all of Sioux Falls, his stepchildren, John W. Miller, Steve. A. Miller, of Sioux Falls; Mrs. Jon (Sharon) Rettke, Placerville, CA, Mrs. Keith (Merrie) C. Hammer, Crooks, SD and Mrs. Ken (Gloria) J. Voelker, Bridgewater, SD and 11 step grandchildren and 3 step great-grandchildren; his siblings, Marvin Kellogg, Klamath Falls, OR and Mary Lewis, Denver, CO.
