Ruth Allen was born on September 16, 1915 in Orient, TX the oldest daughter of Orville and Verna Allen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jess Phillips, her parents, her four brothers, her three sisters and a daughter, Sandra Clements. She is survived by her daughter, Rita Rasco of Lubbock, grandchildren Bobby Rasco, Mike Rasco and Karen Shirley, all of Lubbock, Curtis Clements of Abilene and Travis Clements of Dalhart. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great-great grandchildren.
Ruth, along with her husband Jess Phillips, moved to Dalhart in 1953 to start Tri-State Mattress and Upholstery. They never lacked for work and began to retire in the early-1990s. For many years Ruth also managed the Sagebrush and Quail Run apartment complexes. She was active in the Denver Avenue Church of Christ, Keep Dalhart Beautiful and the Dalhart Senior Citizens center. Due to failing health, she moved to Lubbock in 2004 to be closer to her daughter Rita.
Ruth will be greatly missed as a mother, grandmother and friend.
